Joaquín Cotler is a reporter and producer living in Brooklyn, New York. Since Hurricane María, he has reported extensively on Puerto Rico’s rebuilding efforts, as well as the island’s longstanding opioid crisis.
After receiving an Edward R. Murrow Award for his work as a GroundTruth Podcast Fellow in 2017, Joaquin became a Marguerite Casey Equal Voices Fellow in 2018, and has continued reporting on opioids and human rights abuses in Puerto Rico.
His work has been featured on ReWire.News, Colorlines, VICE Noisey, Univision, and Latino Rebels.
